Board Member Attendance: Terry H, Victoria F, Sue G, John C Neighborhood Attendance: Barb P, Binny H, Dave H
Meeting: 7 – 8:15 pm
Meeting Minutes from March 12 were read and approved
AGENDA ITEM 1 – Creek updates from Steve and additional update re stagnant pool of water
STEVE, update sent April 6: Due to the weather, the fellas doing the cleanup west of Virgil won’t be back on the job until late April. The tree work east of Virgil will start tomorrow morning. I’ll be there to supervise.
Note: The branches that are still there can be left. They will be picked up and chipped at the end of May.
Additional work: Board approves two more days
Contact Form Submission. Nice job: What a nice job the crew did clearing a small section by the stream on the east side of Virgil Court bridge. They worked very hard to clear debris.
ADDITIONAL ITEM
There is a pool of stagnant water directly behind a house on the South side of the creek. There may be a breach in the natural flow of the creek.
ACTION: Terry and Dave will look for the source of the problem then suggest a solution. We may need commercial mosquito control.
AGENDA ITEM 2 - Flyer Distribution
ACTION: April 19 distribution. Victoria will update the flyer to emphasize the Spring Clean-Up and HOA Dues information and print 100 copies. She, John, Binny, and Sue will hand them out to all neighbors on April 19.
AGENDA ITEM 3 - Summer job landscaping hire
In the past, the total amount paid to the person/crew who did the below-mentioned work received $595 total per date and provided their own mower, weed wacker, and sprayer. This is out-of-date pricing.
ACTION
Terry has a truck and trailer and will pick up the mower. The daily rate for the mower is $275.
John C and his son will do this work for a per hour charge and will charge back for any equipment rental(s). They’ll see how it goes; we’re assuming it’s an all-day job.
If it takes longer than a day, we may want to separate out some items. There are other neighbors who may be interested in helping with a few line items such as mowing the interior islands.
These dates are estimates and depend on weather conditions. May-July: 3-4 times and Aug-Sept: 2 times.
Mow perimeter trail between split rail fence and weed whack each side of both fences, one mower width
Mow and trim Virgil interior island
Mow and trim W. 58th Place interior island
Mow and trim the open space lot, southeast of the west bridge; trim around the bridge
Mow and trim the open space lot, northwest of the east bridge; trim around the bridge
Weed whack both sides of the walking path that leads to the canal
AGENDA ITEM 4 - Discuss improvements to neighborhood entrances
Lettering is wood and the signs are old. There are weak solar powered lights; there is not a lot of sunlight in these areas.
ACTION: Sue will research some options to update the signs such as using laser metal cut outs for the lettering and logo. | Victoria will contact Xcel regarding a possible meter and power drop if we want new lights. | Need to clean-up the area; trim trees.
AGENDA ITEM 5 - Website 2.5 - FAQ
FAQ page done: Will help people navigate the website and will act as a repository for questions/answers that come in via the contact forms.
AGENDA ITEM 6 – Light poles
The three lights that were out have been fixed.
There is a pole-top luminaire that has been at a tilt for years (last request made in 2019). Xcel said they’d have a work crew out by April 8; depending on the issue, it may take time to fix.
ACTION: Victoria will do an inventory of the neighborhood and make notes of additional lights/poles that need to be fixed.
AGENDA ITEM 7 - Make a list of jobs for spring cleanup
Information about the dumpsters and spring clean-up has been added to the website; will be added to the flyer; and be posted on the FB page.
Question re a pickup of steel. EG, if you’ve got steel, put it next to the dumpster. It will be picked up separately. HOWEVER, everything around the dumpster must be cleared before they can be picked up.
Also to note: You can pile up branches in the chipping piles which are on either side of creek; the branches are usually chipped at the end of May – after this time, no branches should be added to this area.
JOB LIST
Trail improvement. Work has not been done in years. Discussion of a weed barrier, skid steer (Terry), and additional maintenance.
Fence repairs throughout and at 58th and Virgil; look at the East side.
Hand weed and spray both entrances as well as in other areas as needed - 4 people recommended. Terry has electric powered backpacks. We’ll want a spotter to flag weeds to be followed by the person spraying them. Note re hemlock: Wear protective gear including gloves, long sleeves, and pants. It is only poisonous if ingested.
Clean-up of creek bed overgrowth
Entrance clean-up. There are trees that need to be trimmed and removed.
NOTE: This is a long list. We may need to hire people depending on how much can get done on the day of the clean-up.
AGENDA ITEMS - ADDITIONAL
A tetherball was added to the W 58th Island without neighborhood or board approval. This person will be contacted. Verbiage will be added to the website about how to move forward with yard and island improvements.
